The movie literally wastes no screen time. Right from the get go inside a Costco, agent Frank (Bruce Willis) is hassled by his former cohort Marvin (John Malkovich) about 'spooks' out to get them. Frank tells him to buzz off, but it seems Marvin's fears a validated when his car explodes... From then on its non-stop explosions, quips, and thrills as the team of Retired Extremely Dangerous ex-spy agents try to find who is out to kill them now.
As I said, it's not the greatest plot, but it's not junk either. It's logical, makes sense, and decent acting keeps the pace rolling. Like its predecessor, this movie doesn't aim for the massive blood and gore that it seems most action movies of this era find mandatory. I think that is a preferable change, and I think audiences agree. The critics can go jump off their own proverbial cliffs.
---I did see some previews for a few interesting movies.---
Sylvester Stallone stars in an upcoming jail-house rumble, supports by former Govenator Arnold Schwarzenegger. I gave no thought to the premise of the film, only that I found it interesting that even though Arnold doesn't have much talent to that machine stern voice, he jumped back on screen pretty quickly, and seems pretty well received.
Harrison Ford returns to space in some strange drama about child-bred warriors... I couldn't tell if this was a serious drama or if it was PG.
Tom Hanks is going to be up in a few roles- captain of that freighter that was taken by Somali pirates, and WALT DISNEY in a story about the true Mary Poppins. I never liked Mary Poppins, but I have always been fascinated by Walt Disney. If I'm not mistaken, this might be the first time the legendary man has been portrayed on screen. Though Mr.Hanks may not appear to have Mr.Disney's voice or swagger, I can't think of anyone better to portray one of America's most beloved success stories... unless perhaps Morgan Freeman were white... NM. I do recall that in Iron Man 2, Tony Stark's father was portrayed in some projector films in a presentation similar to Walt Disney's presentation of his Epcot initiative.
Also, Elysium is approaching, but I think we are all holding out breath for that.
What happened to The Lone Ranger?
